We built Branded Rebels by solving the same challenges we encountered while working directly with our first client. Instead of creating another traditional agency, we used that experience to define our positioning, develop our service model, and build a brand around the type of creative work we wanted to do.
Discovery
What we observed
Small businesses needed marketing guidance before they needed large marketing retainers.
Many local agencies emphasized services over education.
Clients often had inconsistent branding across websites, social media, and print.
Our existing work naturally combined design, storytelling, strategy, and content creation.
Opportunity
Build a creative studio that helps businesses develop cohesive brands while offering practical, accessible marketing support.
Constraints
Launched with an existing client instead of outside funding.
Small three-person team covering strategy, design, content, and web.
Needed a brand flexible enough to support multiple industries.
Website and products had to be easy to update without custom development.
Brand had to stand apart from polished, corporate marketing agencies.
Brand Strategy
Positioning
Most local agencies marketed themselves as polished, full-service firms. We wanted Branded Rebels to feel approachable, collaborative, and creative.
Target Audience
Early-stage businesses that needed strategic marketing support but weren't ready for a full agency retainer.

Value Proposition
Marketing shouldn't feel inaccessible. We help businesses build brands that are clear, practical, and built to grow.
Visual Identity
Logo
The logo was hand-lettered to reflect the studio's creative, independent approach. Loose brush strokes and an energetic silhouette give the brand an immediate sense of personality while remaining bold enough to scale across social media, merchandise, and print.
Typography
We paired a monospaced display font with clean sans-serifs to balance personality with readability.
Illustration
Hand-drawn graphics reinforce the studio's collaborative, human approach.
Color
Bold primary colors create recognition while separating the brand from neutral corporate agencies.
Product Strategy
Instead of relying exclusively on service work, we designed a collection of digital products that allowed clients to access practical marketing resources at a lower price point.

Key Takeaways
Building Branded Rebels taught me how closely branding, product strategy, and marketing influence one another. Rather than treating each as separate disciplines, this project reinforced the value of designing complete systems that can grow alongside a business.
